Branded Channels was founded in February 2009 and is owned by Richard van den Boogaard. Branded Channels is both a video marketing consultancy and a video marketing production company. Following his experience in the set up and management of the first branded channel in the Netherlands for Rabo SportTV on YouTube in 2008 (see below), Richard decided to offer his insights to other brands as well by going freelance in February 2009.
During his first few months of convincing clients to take video marketing seriously and actually develop a strategy for creating branded video channels (mostly on YouTube), the most often-heard response was: “yeah, we know that video is hot, but it is also very expensive”.
Agreed, if you approach video the traditional way, it is expensive to produce. However, with the arrival of new technologies, predominantly the DSLR cameras, you are no longer required to have a full production crew and professional film gear in order to make a video with high production value. On most of his projects, Richard operates as a one-mand band, from camerawork to edit.

Branded Channels assists brands in developing a content-syndication strategy, as well as implementation and management of branded channels on external platforms.

The strategy behind branded channels is to bring your content onto the platforms frequently visited by your target users, instead of using display advertising and/or search enginge advertising to convert users to visit your own site. In other words, be where your audience is, rather than trying to convince people to stop what they’re doing and visit your site.
Video Marketing Productions
In October 2009, Richard succesfully completed a course in ENG camera at Camera College in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. In December 2009, following the purchase of a Canon 5D mark II he went to London where he recorded the atmosphere around X-Mas in the city: Merry Christmas London 2009. Come 2010, several video marketing productions followed and today Richard continues to create original video content for a variety of brands and organisations.
Branded Channels owns two full DSLR camera sets (Canon 5D mark II and Canon 7D + several lenses), camera support gear (Secced, Manfrotto, Zacuto, Glidecam, Glidetrack) and professional sound recording (Zoom H4N, Sony UWP) and lighting equipment (Dedo, RotoLight).
Editing is done with Adobe CS5: Premiere Pro, After Effects, PhotoShop, Illustrator.
Equipment is not available as dry hire, only wet hire. Richard’s daily rates include use of own equipment (other than external hire).

Richard van den Boogaard is a seasoned marketeer, blogger, cameraman and editor with more than a dozen years of experience in the field of marketing and media production.
At Rabobank Nederland he was responsible for the content sharing project. This involved syndication of video content from Rabo SportTV on external platforms: among other, the first branded channel in the Netherlands on YouTube, een commercial Rabo Sport Hyve / Hyves gadget and a pilot with a branded channel on Brabants Dagblad. Other potential syndication partners included MyVideo, NuVideo and Telegraaf.
